When you turn away from the main road in Pranburi, a little more than 25 km south of Hua Hin, and drive towards Sam Roi Yod, you quickly sense that you are driving out of the noise of the city, and the heavy traffic is put behind you.
Sam Roi Yod is located by the Dolphin Bay just a stone’s throw away from Sam Roi Yod National Park. The area is bussing with local activity in a pace that makes it absolutely incredible to be there on vacation. If you are not into the go-go bars, discos and traffic noise all night, but simply want pure relaxation, Sam Roi Yod is the place to be. Get an oil- or Thai massage to the view of Monkey Island, just a few hundred meters from the bay, or eat a lovely meal to a very attractive price in one of the many small bamboo-restaurants.
It is a good starting point if you want to see a big part of Thailand. Whether you want to play golf at the world famous Black Mountain Golf course, visit the large furniture dealers up along the border to Burma, go on a jungle safari on the bag of an elephant or trek along a 16-level waterfall, it is all within a short drive.
A couple of times a week you will find markets in different places in the area, where you can get fresh vegetables, fruit and other exiting stuff. There are a lot of smaller shuttle-busses, which drives from the area into the main city Pranburi, which is bussing with local trading activity. If you prefer the more well known, you will also find a mall in the city, with a large Tesco and a lot of unique stores. But the rest of the city is one great pick of local trade.
Hop on a shuttle-bus for a 35 minutes drive and you will be right in the center of Hua Hin, which offers everything a vacation city can offer. Attractions, amazing restaurants along the pier, night-market where you always have the chance of getting a good deal and of course a more colorful area, which even during the nighttime is fully lit. As a family with kids we can fully recommend it all and we are exited to go there every time.
