At West Zealand you can relax on the beach or have an active holiday with biking, water sports and much more. The nature varies a lot and is therefore perfect for explorative trips out in the fresh air. You can look forward to steep slopes, soft hills, heath areas and some truly lovely beaches. Vesterlyng is the biggest heath on Zealand and it is also home to one of the best beaches in Denmark. If you want to be active it is also possible to see it all from the treetops. At Kragerup Manor (Kragerup Gods) they have 5 lanes with a total length of 3,5 kilometres up in the treetops. If you want a slightly less wild activity then Birkegården’s Gardens (Birkegårdens Haver) is a lovely place for the entire family. Here you find beautiful gardens, farm animals, a natural playground, miniature golf and garden games.

West Zealand generally has a lot of good activities for families, which will get you out in the fresh air. At Odsherred Zoo you get to experience the animals up close and in as natural a way as possible. This means no enclosures and no thick glass windows. Summerland Zealand (Sommerland Sjælland) brings out screams and laughter when you try rollercoaster or have fun in the big waterpark. If you are travelling during a Danish holiday, then the kids will love a trip to Cirkusland, where you get to learn circus tricks and see a stunning circus show. They also have other fun activities like miniature golf and Funnballs where you roll over the water. Last, but not least Trelleborg needs to be mentioned, which is an old Viking castle. You can visit the museum to get more knowledge about the place and during holidays the place comes to live, allowing you to test your Viking skills.

Besides the beautiful nature and the fun family activities, West Zealand also has some lovely cities. Especially the four cities Kalundborg, Korsør, Skælskør and Slagelse exude charm and allow you to enjoy old half-timbered houses and more modern city environments. In Kalundborg you are met by the old medieval town ‘Højbyen’ but at the same time get to enjoy nice shopping and cafes in the modern part of Kalundborg. Surrounded by water Korsør is a charming old harbour city with plenty of sailing and water sports. The same goes for Skælskør, which due to the high local involvement in everything from food to art and its mild climate is known as ‘The Sunshine City’. Slagelse is the biggest city in West Zealand and here you find everything you need: shopping, cafes and cultural activities. Each city is different but common to them all is that they are worth a visit.
