Go on vacation to Funen and enjoy the relaxed surroundings. The landscape of Funen is green and hilly and the environment shows itself from its best side, with cosy fruit gardens, hedgerows and beautiful half-timbered houses. Funen is located in the middle of Denmark and is connected to Jutland and Zealand by bridges, making it easy for everyone to get there. In the south of Funen you can go on the ferry to one of the many islands in the South Funen archipelago. Especially Langeland is a popular island due to its beautiful nature and yearly music festival. If one island is not enough, you can go island jumping, where you only stay a couple of nights on each island, allowing you to experience something new every day. South Funen also has a lot of castles, and especially Egeskov is worth a visit, with its beautiful surroundings and many fun activities.
When you have had enough of hiking and trips to the beach, it is time to visit one of the many lovely cities on Funen. The biggest city is the birthplace of H.C. Andersen, Odense, where there is plenty to do. There is a museum for every taste, and of course also one about H.C. Andersen, lovely restaurants and good shopping areas. Besides Odense some cities also worth visiting are: Kerteminde on North Funen and Fåborg and Svendborg on South Funen.
If you like animals, Funen also offers some nice animal parks and aquariums. You can experience birds in Frydenlund Bird Park, crawling insects and reptiles in Terrariet and interesting fish in the aquarium Fjord&Bælt. If there is a place, which is also popular with the entire family, it is Odense Zoo.
